Venue

The MIGW conference 2018 will take place at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, also commonly known as HRW (Hochschule Ruhr West). It is a brand-new university, which was established with two campuses in the neighbouring cities of Mülheim and Bottrop in 2009. The new Mülheim campus opened in spring 2016, today housing the institutes of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Natural Sciences, Measuring and Sensor Technology, and Business. The institutes of Computer Sciences, Energy Systems and Energy Management are located in Bottrop.

The city of Mülheim is part of the Ruhrgebiet. In Mülheim coal mining started in the 16th century. The last coal mine was closed in 1965. Today Mülheim is specialized in retail trading, for example the headquarters of Tengelmann and Aldi Süd are located here.
